Do you know how it started its life before Mitsuoka killed it? :)

Well, it certainly looks like a mid-90s Impreza hatch.

Mitsuoka might be the single worst manufacturer ever. Have they ever produced anything that isn’t fugly?

Actually YES!
On the other end, they did have accessories that could kill it lol

Yup, scary huh? :)

And yes, that’s Mitsuoka again :)

But the Casablanca was a Subaru factory model.

Yup. That’s what Mitsuoka does though: Makes hilarious retro versions of Japanese compacts. Some are cool, some are awful, all are hilarious. Check out their models on the Wikipedia page.

I’m genuinely surprised. I actually don’t mind the front end treatment, hood louvers or the wheels on the bottom one, though everything else added on is terrible.

Oh really? I thought Mitsuoka bought cars and modified them in house. Interesting, but logical indeed. Certainly the cheapest way to do it.

Blame Nissan. They started the whole thing with the Pike cars, prompting Subaru to do the same but much worse and probably caused Mitsuoka as well.

I decided to look up the rest of Mitsuoka’s line up as you had suggested to an other commenter. I actually thought I kinda liked this one. Based on the JDM/Euro Accord, or USDM TSX
Until I saw more of it.
The funniest part is, I guess after this gen Accord/TSX was replaced that wanted to keep making a car with this front end, so the slapped it on a Corolla.
and gave it 90's Cadillac taillights.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Mitsuoka are awesome. Nobody else would have the nerve to make this:

So ugly!
Not too mention it’s slower than my slowest car from the 80s, which is not fast by any means. I say burn them.

It’s a Saab right?

Underneath they are imprezas. I lived out there for a few years and saw some many strange JDM cars.

Hey Monument Motors, lol. They were “interesting” when I looked over some of their Subaru’s.

SAAB-aru’s are rare but not rare enough. At least the taillights are sought after by the Subie crowd.
Yet, those that own them rather cherish them. So I guess they have their place in Subie culture.

Hey, hope you don’t mind the threadjack. After our discussion about the Baja 1000 I thought you might be interested in knowing that a number of the highest profile and biggest dollar competitors (the ones the series relies on for survival) are petitioning the series for a number of extra spectator safety measures before the next race, including-but-not-limited-to more and heavier enforced “no spectator” zones in Ensenada and the other towns on the route. I’d like to think this proactive move is good evidence that the competitors do indeed care :)

Hey, sorry for the delay to answer, noticed your answer but was doing other things and forgot to reply :)
If it works, it is indeed pretty good news. Curious to see how all this will be enforced but I guess we’ll see next race. I do have doubts that they’d ever manage to do such a thing though. The means requried to enforce it would be enormous! And I am sure competitors do care (nobody wants to kill anybody), but I just think that in the end of the day the will to zoom through cities, in the dirt is just a bit too strong to really regard safety as very important. Do you know what would happen if the racers don’t get what they ask?

They’re saying boycott. No idea if it’s just talk though.
The places where they're calling for change is all in areas where it wouldn't take an extreme amount of extra manpower to enforce it. The corner where the fatality happened is top of the list of course. There's a couple other corners in Ensenada, and then a couple spots in a town on the east side of the peninsula. Competitors aren't asking about the more remote stuff because they're well aware of how hard it is to actually enforce spectating out there
